Fit for a King: A Moody Retreat Tailored to the Everyday
We’re excited to unveil our latest project: Fit for a King—a full custom build designed to be equal parts striking, sophisticated, and personal.
From day one, the goal was clear: create a space that felt like home for our client—a place that reflected his lifestyle, style preferences, and love for elevated design with a masculine edge. With a moody palette, dark plaster finishes, and standout architectural elements, every detail was designed to feel intentional and refined.
Massive doors, soaring ceilings, and striking beam details inspired the name Fit for a King—a nod to the home’s grand but grounded feel. From the thoughtful tilework to playful hardware moments in the mudroom and kitchen, every corner has a story to tell.
The heart of the home—where the kitchen meets the living room—is one of our favorite spaces. Cozy yet practical, it’s designed for everyday living and effortless entertaining. Matching plaster on the custom range hood and fireplace offers a seamless connection between the two areas, while Shou Sugi Ban wood wall details add warmth and texture throughout the center of the home.
The fireplace is a standout moment in the main space, featuring a custom-colored plaster finish on the upper wall paired with Karen Pearse INAX Ombre Border Mosaic porcelain tile below—creating the perfect mix of texture and tone.
The mudroom, designed to keep up with our client’s on-the-go lifestyle, features built-in cabinetry painted in Farrow & Ball’s Green Smoke No. 47, adding a subtle richness and setting the tone right as you walk in.
Another team favorite? The powder bath, which carries the moody aesthetic through bold choices like Old Ads wallpaper from Astek Home and the Artierios Tall Cut Sconces—proving that even the smallest spaces can make a big impact.
This project is a true reflection of thoughtful design tailored to the individual—a home that feels elevated without sacrificing comfort, and bold without losing warmth. Every detail, from the grand architectural elements to the smallest hardware selections, was chosen with purpose. We’re so proud of how this project came together and even more thrilled that it feels like home for our client.
