How to Design Your Bedroom for a Better Night's Sleep
It's no secret that we all yearn for a good night's sleep every night. Sadly, it's not always possible to achieve that. However, we have some tips to help create a bedroom atmosphere that encourages a satisfying slumber. While we can't promise perfection every night, these tips can definitely make a difference.
Light
Create optimal lighting in your space through lamps, warm bulbs, and making sure you have functional (and beautiful) ways to cover your windows. We're all about natural light but when it comes time to sleep you want to make sure you have the option to keep your space dark and cozy. When going to bed, make sure to begin dimming the lights in your space or switching to a bedside lamp so you can begin to slow down.
Texture
Though some bedding may be pretty to look at, it may not always be made of comfortable material/texture. When choosing bedding, make sure that you can have both! Choose sheets that fit your desired sleeping temperature and feel. Thick and warm, airy and cooling - choose what best fits you!
We always recommended having bedding for different seasons. During winter opt for a heavy duvet and thick sheets. In summer, swap that out for a light duvet and linen sheets.
Color
Another huge part of a bedroom is how you feel in the space. We're all about bright colors and patterns but consider choosing a design that helps you feel calm in your space. That doesn't mean all things neutral but means choosing something that helps you feel ready to relax.
Scent
Don't forget to appeal to all of your senses before falling asleep! Texture and sight we've covered but what about smell? Whether it's a candle, essential oils, fresh air from your windows - whatever it is, make sure it helps you feel more relaxed.
Organization
Last but not least, choose accessories/furniture that promotes better organization and less clutter. Visual clutter can generate stress, which is a known barrier to quality sleep. For example, when choosing nightstands, keep your organizational needs in mind. If you only use your night stands for a glass of water and phone charger, find something minimal that can hide cords well. If you love having books and trinkets next to you, opt for a nightstand with drawers and extra storage.
Last but certainly not least, we highly recommend making your bed every morning. Hoping in a clean set of sheets with fluffy pillows at night is a feeling like nothing else. It's worth the extra step in the morning to create a morning routine and help you feel excited for bed at night.
